Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering (ME) has been established in the year 2008 with an initial intake of 60 students which has increased to 120 students from year 2010. Further intake is increased to 240 from year 2014. Department have team of well qualified and experienced faculties. They provide students with the latest technical knowledge and practical exposure so that they can make their presence feel in the latest technical revolution. The Department has experienced significant growth over the last few years, and is now home to 19 faculties, with strong groups in all the subjects mentioned in RGPV syllabus. The Department follows a comprehensive curriculum as designed by the state technical University (RGPV) on topics related to Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on practical learning. The course structure is up-to-date and includes courses on nascent topics to equip our students with the latest developments.

Department comprises of 10 laboratories along with various models and working apparatus. Department regularly organizes expert lectures on the new technologies by identifying areas of interest. We are also trying to take part in sponsored research projects and consultancy services. The Department provides an outstanding environment for excellence in teaching and our faculty aim at delivering top class education blending with their rich classroom teaching. The Department is organizing works shops on latest topics for Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with IIT Bombay. Department received a complimentary Solar PV kit from NCPRE – IIT Bombay to encourage research in the field of Renewable energy.

Programme Educational Objectives

PEO1. To prepare graduates as engineering professionals, innovators or entrepreneurs engaged in technology development and its implementation in industry.

PEO3. To produce graduates who are effective in communication, and are able to work in competitive team environments of national and international organizations.

PEO4. To produce graduates who will function in their profession with social awareness and responsibility in contributing to the economic growth of the country.

Programme Outcomes

PO 1. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to use basic knowledge in mathematics, science and engineering and apply them to solve problems specific to mechanical engineering.

PO 2. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to design and conduct experiments, interpret and analyze data, and report results.

PO 3. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to design any mechanical system or thermal system that meets desired specifications and requirements.

PO 4. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to identify, formulate and solve mechanical engineering problems of a complex kind.

PO 5. Graduates will familiar with applying software methods and modern computer tools to analyze mechanical engineering problems.

PO 6. Graduates will develop an open mind and have an understanding of the impact of engineering on society and demonstrate awareness of contemporary issues.

PO 7. Graduates will able to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health care and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability.

PO 8. Graduates will demonstrate an understanding of their professional and ethical responsibilities, and use technology for the benefit of mankind.

PO 9. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to function as a coherent unit in multidisciplinary design teams, and deliver results through collaborative research.
